Happy Independence Day!!!!! It has been a little weird celebrating it here in Costa Rica with no hot dogs, watermelon, or fireworks but hey, I cant have it all. I did, however, get to spend a good part of this afternoon completely soaked from one of Costa Ricas daily torrential downpours. For some odd reason I waited until it started to rain to walk to the downtown area to buy some things I needed for this weekend. By the time I was already a ways away from my house, it was rivers in the street and in some places I walked through mini rivers up to my knees. I came home sopping wet to a very surprised Maria. She couldn't believe I had gone out in such heavy rain. What can I say, I'm a rebel.
Speaking of my host mom, I totally freaking love her!!! Not only does she do all my laundry, cook all my meals, and clean any mess I make before I even know I made it, she saw how much I love turtles so she got me a little clay one while she was out today!!!

Yeah, she is pretty great :) Classes are also going pretty good, I feel a little bad because everyone else seems to have mountains of homework and it hardly takes me anytime to complete mine. My marine biology class is more like an ecology class right now with talking about all the ecosystem processes and the like. I have class three days a week for bio and two of those days class is from 8 am to 12 pm!! Crazy right?!?! We do get like a 20 minute break but still that is sooooo long. My spanish class is four days a week and its not very long. My teacher is amazing. Class went over my 15 minutes today and no one even noticed we were having such a good time.

I also have dance class two days a week and it was a lot of fun today. There is only one other guy in it besides the teacher so we all get our fair amount of time being the man. So I promised some pictures of my living situation and I have them below. I am living in a three bedroom two bathroom house with my host mom and that is it. In Costa Rica that is actually a really large house so yeah Im kinda living in a CR palace :P

Well I am about to sign off, I have a crazy busy weekend: Jaco beach to learn how to surf and staying in a hostel for the first time tomorrow (Friday), Isla Tortuga for snorkling with my marine biology class, then a group field trip to Poas Volcano and Los Trapiches on Sunday. Oh yeah, amazing weekend :)
Ayla, with all of the rain you have been walking in you must be as squeaky clean as a sea turtle. I am glad to hear you are still exploring all there is in Costa. Best always!
